Men's College Basketball
Auburn at Georgia
When: 5:30 PM ET, Saturday, February 6, 2016
Where: Stegeman Coliseum, Athens, Georgia

Georgia can defend as well as anybody in the nation, the biggest reason the Bulldogs sit in sixth place in the SEC entering Saturday’s home game at Auburn, but more consistent offensive production could position them for even more success. Tuesday’s 69-56 victory over No. 23 South Carolina illustrated how difficult the Bulldogs can be for opponents, as four players scored in double figures and the Bulldogs converted at several key moments to snap a two-game losing streak.

“For us to come out and play as well as we did, it was a blessing,” Georgia guard Kenny Gaines told reporters after he scored 17 points, helping the Bulldogs secure their first win against a ranked team in two years – three days after Georgia pushed No. 13 Baylor in a 10-point road defeat. The Tigers have lost four in a row since back-to-back wins over Kentucky and in-state rival Alabama, falling 80-68 Tuesday to LSU to drop into a tie for 11th in the league. “The losing is tough. It’s tough on everybody,” Auburn coach Bruce Pearl acknowledged to the media afterward. “When you’re not having success, it wears on them. It’s wearing on all of us.” One positive for Auburn was freshman guard Bryce Brown snapping out of a shooting slump by making six 3-pointers, scoring 18 points.

TV: 5:30 p.m. ET, SEC Network, ESPN3

ABOUT AUBURN (9-12, 3-6 SEC): Brown had shot just 9-of-44 from the field in his previous six games before connecting on 6-of-14 attempts, but the Tigers shot under 40 percent as a team for the eighth consecutive game. Guard Kareem Canty ranks fourth in the SEC in scoring at 18.3 points per game and third in assists (5.3), but is shooting 32.8 percent from the field and 5-of-34 from 3-point range during Auburn’s losing streak. The Tigers are last in the conference in scoring defense (78.1 points per game) and opponents’ field-goal percentage (44.9).

ABOUT GEORGIA (12-8, 5-4
): The Bulldogs continue to make life tough on opposing offenses, holding opponents to 38.1 percent shooting from the field (second in the SEC to Vanderbilt; 10th nationally) after limiting South Carolina to 31 percent Tuesday. Center Yante Maten averages 15.8 points and 7.7 rebounds, while guard J.J. Frazier leads the Bulldogs in scoring (16.4) and free-throw shooting (80.9 percent). Maten (18 points), Gaines (17), Frazier (13) and guard Charles Mann (11) combined for 85.5 percent of Georgia’s scoring output against the Gamecocks and average 80.7 percent of the Bulldogs production for the season.

1. Auburn F Cinmeon Bowers returned Tuesday after a one-game suspension for conduct detrimental to the team, scoring 15 points but shooting 3-of-14 from the field.

2. Frazier ranks 10th in the conference in scoring, and is averaging 20.4 points in his past five games.

3. The Tigers average 9.4 made 3-pointers per contest, tops in the conference.
