Men's College Basketball
Citadel at Florida St.
When: 7:00 PM ET, Tuesday, November 25, 2014
Where: Donald L. Tucker Center, Tallahassee, Florida

Florida State coach Leonard Hamilton is not overly concerned that his Seminoles are 1-3, but the status of leading scorer Aaron Thomas is cause for worry. The Seminoles return home to play The Citadel on Tuesday after losing twice in the Hall of Fame Tip-Off Classic, falling 75-69 Sunday to Massachusetts as Thomas scored only two points before going to the hospital for dehydration. “It’s not the first time I’ve started 1-3,” Hamilton said. "I think we're going to be fine."

Freshman guard Xavier Rathan-Mayes led Florida State with 22 points against UMass, but missed a pair of free throws that would have brought the Seminoles within two points with 15.1 seconds remaining. Still the Seminoles were encouraged by their gutty effort against the Minutemen one day after they were blown out 80-54 by Providence. The Bulldogs lost their first two games before posting victories over Toccoa Falls and Bob Jones University.

TV: 7 p.m. ET, ESPN3

ABOUT THE CITADEL (2-2): The Bulldogs returned four starters from last season’s squad that finished with seven wins and went just 2-14 in the Southern Conference. Senior center P.J. Horgan recorded his fourth career double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds against Bob Jones. Senior guard Ashton Moore leads the team in scoring at 17.5 points and is three assists away from 200 for his career.

ABOUT FLORIDA STATE (1-3): Rathan-Mayes had scored only five points in two games before going 8-for-20 from the field. Thomas missed all five of his first-half shots and did not return after halftime, dropping the junior guard’s scoring average to 14 points. Junior guard Montay Brandon is 18-for-27 from the field, ranking second on the squad in scoring at 11.8 points while leading Florida State in rebounding (7.0).

1. Brandon scored six points against Massachusetts, the first time he has not reached double figures in scoring.

2. Florida State recorded only six assists (three by Rathan-Mayes) and went 0-for-7 from 3-point range Sunday.

3. The Seminoles are 5-4 all-time against the Bulldogs, winning the last matchup 77-51 on Dec. 30, 1999.
