Men's College Basketball
Stetson at Florida St.
When: 2:00 PM ET, Monday, December 22, 2014
Where: Donald L. Tucker Center, Tallahassee, Florida

The only thing consistent about Florida State 11 games into the season is the team’s inconsistency. The Seminoles are 6-5 but don’t have a win streak longer than two games or a losing skid of more than three as they prepare to host Stetson on Monday. It will be the final game before Christmas and the only contest this week for the two Sunshine State programs.

“We are searching for our identity,” Florida State coach Leonard Hamilton said Saturday following his team’s 75-62 Orange Bowl Classic win over South Florida. “We had spurts when we executed real well, but we're a work in progress.” True to form Saturday, the Seminoles suddenly morphed into a shot-blocking force, swatting away a school-record tying 15 South Florida shots after entering the game with 32 on the season. Stetson, meanwhile, brings a four-game losing streak to Tallahassee after losses to Florida Atlantic and Georgia Southern last week.

TV: 2 p.m. ET, ESPN3

ABOUT STETSON (3-9): The Hatters were picked to finish eighth in the Atlantic Sun Conference preseason coaches’ poll and only have one win – a 62-50 victory over Florida A&M on Nov. 29 – against a Division I foe. Despite missing the last three games with an ailing back, guard Brian Pegg is pacing the team in scoring (12 points per game) and rebounding (4.9) while freshman backcourt mate Devine Myles is averaging 10.2 points and has a team-high 12 steals. The Hatters are shooting a solid 45 percent from the field, but rank 328th nationally with a 60.8 percent free-throw percentage and are being outrebounded by an average of 6.1 per game.

ABOUT FLORIDA STATE (6-5): With Aaron Thomas, averaging a team 14.8 points, declared ineligible for the rest of the season a week ago, Montay Brandon (13.6) and Xavier Rathan-Mayes (11.3) are setting the Seminoles’ scoring pace, and Brandon is also averaging a team-best 5.4 rebounds. Florida State averaged 81.8 points over their last four games after entering the stretch with 66.6 average. They ranked 34th nationally by shooting 48.5 percent from the field through Saturday's games, but 24.8 percent from 3-point range - among the worst percentages in the country.

1. Florida State has won 17 straight overall and 23 in a row at home in the series.

2. The Seminoles have had 44 assists on 60 baskets over their last two games with Rathan-Mayes dishing out 18.

3. Stetson is 0-6 on the road, losing by an average of 19 points.

PREDICTION: Florida State 75, Stetson 61
