Monmouth-NJ at Maryland
When: 7:00 PM ET, Friday, November 28, 2014
Where: Xfinity Center, College Park, Maryland

Maryland already has the CBE Hall of Fame Classic title, but it will host Monmouth on Friday night to finish off the tournament's schedule. The meeting — the fourth between the Terrapins and the Hawks — is the only game from the on-campus round that didn't get played before the championship round in Kansas City, Mo., earlier this week. The Terrapins gained some national attention winning there, beating Arizona State and No. 13 Iowa State to take the title.

Maryland has gotten an early boost from its newcomers. Freshman guard Melo Trimble is second on the team with 14.6 points after pouring in 31 and 11 points in Kansas City. Monmouth went 2-1 as a Classic sub-host last week, beating Bethune Cookman and Central Connecticut State before falling to Towson in overtime.

TV: 7 p.m. ET, Big Ten Network

ABOUT MONMOUTH (2-2): Returning leading scorers Deon Jones (14 points) and Andrew Nicholas (13.5 points off the bench) are pacing the Hawks again this season. Nicholas hit six 3-pointers and tallied 24 points — and passing the 1,000-point mark for his career — in the loss to Towson. Justin Robinson adds 11.3 points and a team-best 2.8 assists, while Brice Kofane leads the Hawks with a five-rebound average.

ABOUT MARYLAND (5-0): Senior Dez Wells leads the Terrapins with 16.2 points and junior Jake Layman adds 13.8 points while shooting 75 percent inside the 3-point line. Freshman forward Michal Cekovsky (4.6 points, 4.2 rebounds) and sophomore Damonte Dodd (5.2 points, 5.4 rebounds) provide solid interior defense for Maryland. The Terrapins have 25 blocks — including 11 by Dodd — and are holding opponents to 58.2 points.

TIP-INS

1. Maryland won the first meeting 74-70 win 1988 but has outscored Monmouth by a combined 69 points in the other two wins (2001, 2012).

2. The Terrapins are off to their best start since an 8-0 record in the 2006-07 season.

3. Maryland's first-year players — four freshmen and senior transfer Richaud Pack — have scored 49.6 percent of the team's points.
