Men's College Basketball
Murray St. at Xavier
When: 7:00 PM ET, Monday, November 24, 2014
Where: Cintas Center, Cincinnati, Ohio

Before heading out west to play in the Wooden Legacy starting on Thanksgiving, Xavier would like to finish out a four-game homestand with a perfect record. The Musketeers can achieve that goal with a win over visiting Murray State on Monday night. Coach Chris Mack's squad hasn't been tested yet in winning its first three games of the season, averaging a 24.7-point margin of victory.

The Racers come in having won two straight after a narrow loss to Houston in their opener. Coach Steve Prohm's squad is the preseason favorite in the Ohio Valley Conference, so Prohm is hoping a tough road game like this one will help develop his squad. Murray State will have to play some solid defense against a tough freshman, Trevon Bluiett, who leads Xavier in scoring at 18 points a game.

TV: 7 p.m. ET, Fox Sports 1

ABOUT MURRAY STATE (2-1): So many times in the early part of the season, smaller schools go play the big boys in hopes to toughen up for the rest of the year and get a bit of a payday. But don't tell the Racers they're just fodder for a Xavier blowout win Monday; they're heading to Cincinnati with winning on their minds. “We're definitely looking to go up there and make a statement,” guard Justin Seymour told the Murray Ledger & Times, “and come back to Murray with a win.”

ABOUT XAVIER (3-0): Despite the perfect start to the season, Mack, like any coach, sees room for improvement. In the win over Stephen F. Austin on Friday, the Musketeers were outrebounded for the first time this season, both overall and on the offensive glass, and Mack pointed to his guards' lack of blocking out as one reason. “We do more blockout drills with our guards than a lot of other programs, and it's obviously not sinking in,” Mack told the Cincinnati Enquirer. “We're going to do it till we're blue in the face. We have to figure it out.”

1. Murray State F Jarvis Williams has double-doubles in two of the first three games, missing only in the Racers' last contest, a blowout win over Brescia in which he played 19 minutes.

2. Musketeers G Dee Davis leads the team in assists with eight per game, including 12 against Stephen F. Austin.

3. Xavier leads the all-time series 3-0, though the teams haven't played since 1955.

PREDICTION: Xavier 76, Murray State 63
