Men's College Basketball
Wake Forest at N.C. State
When: 12:00 PM ET, Saturday, February 13, 2016
Where: PNC Arena, Raleigh, North Carolina

Due in part to playing the toughest schedule in college basketball, Danny Manning’s second season at Wake Forest has been very trying. The Demon Deacons’ hope to end their longest ACC losing streak in five years when they visit North Carolina State on Saturday.

Wake Forest, which has lost nine straight games and whose lone ACC win has come against the Wolfpack, has played nine ranked opponents this season - its most since the 2004-05 season. "We have to make sure that we don't lose focus," star senior forward Devin Thomas said after a loss at Georgia Tech on Wednesday. "We still have a lot of basketball to play." This game features two of the best individual performers in the ACC in 6-9 Thomas, the league's active rebound leader (1,001), and Wolfpack junior Anthony Barber, who is on pace to become the second player in conference history to average 23 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists (Georgia Tech's Kenny Anderson in 1990-91). Thomas, the 16th player in the league to accumulate 1,000 points, 1,000 rebounds and 125 blocks, is averaging 16.2 points on 55.6 percent shooting, 9.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists.

ABOUT WAKE FOREST (10-14, 1-11 ACC): In the Demon Deacons’ latest defeat, a 71-66 loss to Georgia Tech, they led for 24 of the first 26 minutes but couldn’t hold on. Thomas had 20 points and eight rebounds but the Wolfpack connected on only 3-of-17 from the arc. Freshman guard Bryant Crawford, who has scored in double figures in seven straight games, is averaging 13.3 points and 4.3 assists and shooting 41 percent beyond the arc on nearly five attempts per game.

ABOUT NORTH CAROLINA STATE (12-12, 2-9): The Wolfpack return home after road losses at Florida State and Duke which followed a stunning 85-69 home victory against then-No. 13 Miami. In last Saturday’s 88-80 loss against the Blue Devils, Barber had 26 points and six assists, sophomore Abdul-Malik Abu had 16 points and a career-high 17 rebounds and freshman Maverick Rowan contributed 17 points and 4-of-8 shooting beyond the arc. Barber had scored at least 30 points in his previous three games and four of five and is leading the conference in scoring (23.5), minutes (38.7) and free-throw attempts (8.25).

1. Wake Forest got 20 points and 11 rebounds from Thomas as well as 17 points and a trio of 3-pointers from Crawford in a 77-74 win over the Wolfpack on Jan. 10 to overcome 26 points and seven assists from Barber.

2. Barber joins Wyoming’s Josh Adams and Davidson’s Jack Gibbs as the only players in the country averaging 23 points, four rebounds and four assists.

3. With 307 points and 98 assists, Crawford is two assists shy of becoming just the second Demon Deacon freshman to score 300 points and record 100 assists during his rookie season, joining Chris Paul in 2003-04.
