Northwestern at Ohio St.
When: 8:00 PM ET, Tuesday, February 9, 2016
Where: Value City Arena, Columbus, Ohio
Northwestern will be looking for its first win at Ohio State since the 1976-77 season when the Wildcats hit the road for a Big Ten game Tuesday. Northwestern has lost 28 of the last 29 overall against the Buckeyes, most recently a 65-56 setback against visiting Ohio State on Jan. 6.
The Wildcats played without 7-foot center Alex Olah in last month's clash with the Buckeyes, the fourth of six games Olah missed because of a left foot injury. Olah has struggled to regain his touch since his return, shooting 13-for-33 from the field in the last six games - and that includes a 9-for-12 performance against No. 22 Indiana on Jan. 23. Northwestern ended a five-game losing streak Thursday with a 82-58 win against visiting Minnesota, while the Buckeyes have lost two straight and four of six after starting 3-0 in conference play. JaQuan Lyle came into Thursday's game at Wisconsin shooting 2-for-13 from the floor in the previous four games with a combined 11 points, but the 6-foot-5 freshman guard scored 27 points off the bench on 11-for-19 from the field in the 79-68 loss to the Badgers.TV:
8 p.m. ET, Big Ten NetworkABOUT NORTHWESTERN (16-8, 4-7 Big Ten):
Tre Demps will be looking for a better showing against Ohio State after shooting 3-for-17 in the last meeting with seven points. Demps warmed up for the rematch by totaling 23 points and eight assists Thursday against Minnesota. Demps and Bryant McIntosh each come in averaging a team-leading 14.8 points, but McIntosh is clearly the better playmaker, as he broke the school's single-season assist record in Thursday's win, giving him 159 on the season.ABOUT OHIO STATE (14-10, 6-5)
: Kam Williams had the hot stroke when these teams met last month, making a career-high five 3-pointers on nine attempts and scoring 21 points for the Buckeyes. He's only reached double figures in scoring in three of the eight games since, however, one reason Ohio State has struggled recently. Marc Loving also needs to get it going, as the 6-8 junior forward leads the team in scoring at 13 points per game but hasn't surpassed that mark in the last nine games.TIP-INS
