: Russ Smith scored 18 points as the host Cardinals ran out to a 14-point halftime lead and cruised to their second straight Big East victory.
Peyton Siva logged 14 points and seven assists and Wayne Blackshear came off the bench to score nine for Louisville (18-4, 6-3), which shot 51.9 percent and outrebounded Marquette (15-5, 6-2) 34-22.
Vander Blue led the Golden Eagles with 17 points while Trent Lockett set a season high with 16. Second-leading scorer Davante Gardner (12.7 ppg) scored just two points on 1-of-4 shooting. Marquette shot 35.8 percent from the field and 23.1 percent from beyond the arc.
Blue scored four early points as the Golden Eagles started the game on a 9-1 run. After a Lockett 3-pointer pushed the Marquette cushion to 16-10 with 11:44 left in the first half, Louisville exploded with a 26-6 run. Smith and Siva scored nine each in the spurt and a Gorgui Dieng jumper capped it to make the score 36-22.
After taking a 38-24 lead into halftime, Louisville opened the second half on a 15-6 run. Back-to-back Luke Hancock 3-pointers extended the Cardinals edge to 53-30 with 13:29 left. Marquette never got closer than 15 down the stretch.GAME NOTEBOOK
